THE CHALLENGE
Californians have lost billions to scams and fraud, and often times, the most underserved find themselves most vulnerable. The California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI) needed a campaign to get the word out about scams and fraud to these communities.

THE APPROACH

We leaned into the online phrase “Do Your Own Research” producing an educational and entertaining campaign with tips on how to stay informed and make smart money choices. Our campaign ambassador, a passionate “Do Your Own Research-er” helped us tell a cohesive, compelling, and overall relatable story that was as impactful as it was engaging.

THE RESULT
We reached our audiences where they were, primarily across social and digital. Animated social videos complemented our brand and informational videos, tapping into an audience ready to learn more. The campaign reach was a hit, with 245+ million impressions, 1.4 million clicks and 866,000 visits to the DFPI consumer protection webpage.

 

Real People Chats

As part of the campaign, we created a social series interviewing real people on the street, quizzing them on financial safety information and providing them with tips they didn’t have before.
